\u201cBritain would hand a posthumous victory to Adolf Hitler if Nazi war criminals allegedly living in this country were allowed to escape prosecution and punishment, Lord Jakobovits, the Chief Rabbi, told the Lords today.<\/p>\n

The leader of Britain\u2019s Jewish community made a passionate appeal to the Government to accept the recommendations of the War Crimes Inquiry and bring forward legislation to allow the prosecution of suspects.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSilence, indifference and inaction were Hitler\u2019s principal allies.<\/span> If we were by our own default to let his henchmen go unpunished, we would be handing the tyrant a posthumous victory.\u201d (column 1, p. 10<\/p>\n
